Sharing Part of a Document Without Sending All of It

You need page 27, the signature page, and the file is a 30 page agreement full of terms the recipient has no business rereading. Sending one page used to mean printing a sheet and rescanning it. With the Extract PDF Pages tool you type 27 or click its thumbnail, the page lights up green, and the button builds a fresh PDF from your selection while the full agreement never leaves your machine. Why send one page instead of thirty

Send the sheet, keep the file.

The signature page scenario is everywhere: counsel wants proof of signing, not another copy of the indemnity terms. Sometimes it's one clause that a vendor needs to review without seeing the pricing schedule two pages over. Sometimes it's a single chart from a 60 page study, headed for a slide deck.

In each case the constraint is the same. The recipient should get exactly the relevant pages, the master file should stay intact, and ideally the full document shouldn't be uploaded to some service just to peel one sheet off it.

Picking pages to extract

Green means it makes the cut.

Upload the file and its pages appear as thumbnails. Click a page and a green overlay with a Keep badge appears; click again to release it. Or type pages in the Pages to extract box, such as 1-3, 7 or 10- for page 10 to the end, and the thumbnails update to match. Select all, Odd pages, Even pages and Clear change the whole selection at once.

Then choose the output. One PDF with all selected pages gives you yourfile-extracted.pdf. Each page as its own PDF (ZIP) gives you yourfile-extracted.zip, with one file per page named like yourfile-page-07.pdf. Either way, pages come out in document order unless you tick Keep the order I picked, and each page keeps its stored rotation. Everything runs in the browser tab, which is what makes it reasonable to do this with a confidential agreement.

One page, one attachment.

The file is services-agreement.pdf, 30 pages, signed yesterday. Type 27 in the box, or scroll to page 27 and click it. Check that the thumbnail shows both parties' signatures and that the button reads Extract 1 page.

The download is services-agreement-extracted.pdf containing exactly that page. Need the notary page on 28 as well? Type 27-28, or click both in either order, and the two page output still puts 27 first, unless you tick Keep the order I picked. The source agreement stays complete and untouched. The ZIP option suits a different job: pulling twelve monthly payslips out of a yearly bundle as twelve separate files in one go.

Extract vs split, extract vs delete

Three tools, three mental models.

Against Split PDF, the difference is scope. Split cuts the whole document into parts, by ranges, page counts, file size or bookmarks, and the parts land in a ZIP. Extraction pulls out only the pages you pick and leaves the rest behind. Sections of a whole document: split. A few chosen pages: extract.

Against deletion, the difference is direction. Delete PDF Pages works from a remove list, where every page you mark disappears from the copy, while this tool works from a keep list, where only the pages you mark survive. Grabbing 2 pages of 30? Extract. Discarding 2 of 30? Delete. Both reach the same kind of result, but one takes far fewer clicks.

Extraction mistakes worth a second look

Mostly about picking the wrong page.

A short list covers nearly every extraction that goes sideways:

Grabbing the unsigned twin. Scanned agreements often contain both the blank signature page and the signed one; check the ink is visible in the thumbnail.
Trusting printed numbers. A cover sheet shifts everything, so the sheet stamped 27 may be thumbnail 28. Go by what the thumbnail shows.
Expecting navigation to survive. Links aimed at pages you didn't select point nowhere in the output, and bookmark outlines don't come across at all.
Leaving Select all on from an earlier idea and mailing the entire agreement anyway. The page count on the button is your last line of defense; read it.

Habits for cleaner page extraction

Two small ones, both cheap.

Before pressing the button, make the count in its label match the number in your head. Extract 1 page when you meant one page is confirmation; Extract 14 pages when you meant one is a caught mistake.

After downloading, open the -extracted file once before attaching it anywhere. You're checking that the right page made it and nothing extra came along. When several recipients need the same page over time, extract it once and file the single page PDF next to the master, rather than extracting again for each request.
