An HTML sitemap is the version people read: a page of links grouped by section that helps lost visitors find their way. The HTML Sitemap Generator builds one from a list of URLs, or imports the list from your sitemap.xml in one step. You get a complete sitemap.html file or a snippet to paste into your CMS.
Start from what you already have.
Enter a domain or sitemap URL and press Import URLs. The tool finds the sitemap through robots.txt or common paths and follows sitemap index files. If a firewall blocks the request, open the sitemap in your browser and paste the URLs instead.
You can also paste full URLs into the box, one per line. Duplicates and lines that are not full URLs are skipped. Delete any pages you do not want listed, or type patterns such as /tag/ under Exclude URLs containing to drop whole groups at once.
Readable without extra work.
The Layout menu offers three shapes. Sections by top folder groups links by the first folder in each path, so /blog/post-1 goes under a Blog heading, and top-level pages with no children, such as /about and /contact, sit under Main pages. Sections in columns uses the same groups side by side, and Nested tree by folder nests every folder level as lists inside lists. Sort links A to Z and Show link counts per section are optional.
Link text starts from the last part of each URL, so /blog/cold-brew-guide becomes Cold brew guide and the root becomes Home. Press Use each page's title and the tool fetches up to 300 pages and uses their title tags instead, with a trailing site name after | or - trimmed.
Pick the format that fits your site.
Full page gives a standalone sitemap.html with one small style block you can restyle. Snippet only gives the headings and link lists with no styling, so they take on your theme. In WordPress, choose Snippet only, add a Custom HTML block to a new page, paste the code and publish.
Visitors look in the footer.
Link the page from your site footer, usually at /sitemap/ or /sitemap.html. Some sites also link it from their 404 page. Once a list passes a few hundred links, set Max folder depth to 1 or 2 to list sections rather than every post, or make one page per section; the tool does not split pages for you.
The output is static HTML. Import again and replace the page when your site gains or loses important pages.
Two audiences, two files.
An HTML sitemap is mainly for people, and it adds plain internal links to every page it lists. An XML sitemap is for search engines. If you already have one, Google does not need the HTML version, but it still helps visitors on large or deep sites.
