Word Cloud Generator

This word cloud generator turns any text into a picture of its most frequent words, with bigger words for the ones you use most. Paste survey answers, a speech, an article or customer reviews, or open a .txt, .docx or .pdf file. Common words like the and and are left out, and you can add your own words to skip. Choose from six colour sets, four fonts, three word directions, five canvas sizes from a square post to a 1920 by 1080 slide, and a white, dark or transparent background. Shuffle gives a new layout. Download the cloud as a PNG image or a sharp SVG, and the word counts as CSV. Teachers, marketers and researchers use it to show at a glance what people talk about.

Why Word Cloud Generator

Good uses for a word cloud

A word cloud is a quick visual summary, not a precise chart. It suits moments when you want people to see the main themes at a glance.

  • Survey and feedback answers: spot the words customers repeat most.
  • Speeches and essays: show students which ideas an author leans on.
  • Workshop notes: turn sticky-note ideas into a slide in seconds.
  • Social posts and reviews: see which features people mention.
  • Your own draft: check that the topic words stand out, not filler.

When to use a bar chart instead

Word size is hard to compare precisely, and long words look more important than short ones with the same count. When the exact numbers matter, download Word counts CSV and chart the top 10 words as bars, or use the Word Frequency Counter for a ranked list with percentages.

Common questions

How does the word cloud generator decide word size?
Each word is counted, then its size is set between a minimum and maximum based on that count. Size contrast changes the curve: Strong uses the count directly, Balanced uses its square root and Gentle uses a logarithm, which keeps rare words readable. If the words would not fit, every size shrinks together.
Which words are left out of the word cloud?
With Leave out common words ticked, about 190 English, Hindi and Urdu function words such as the, and, है and ہے are skipped. Numbers, words shorter than Min word length and anything you type in Also leave out are skipped too.
Can I make a word cloud from survey responses?
Yes. Paste the answers column from your spreadsheet straight into the box, one answer per line. Add the question's own words, such as product or service, to Also leave out so they do not dominate the cloud.
Why are some words missing from my word cloud?
The status line shows how many words were placed. If some did not fit, lower Max words, choose a larger canvas or set Word direction to Half vertical, which packs words more tightly. The Word list under the cloud shows every word and its count.
Can I download the word cloud with a transparent background?
Yes. Set Background to Transparent and both PNG and SVG downloads have no background, so the cloud sits on top of your slide or design. Pick the Light colour set if it will go on a dark background.
Is SVG or PNG better for a word cloud?
PNG is a normal image at the canvas size, ready for slides, documents and social posts. SVG is vector, so it stays sharp at any size and suits printing and design tools. The SVG uses system fonts, so it can look slightly different on a computer without them.
Does the word cloud keep capital letters?
By default all words are shown in lowercase so India and india count as one word. Tick Keep capital letters to show each word the way it is written most often in your text, which suits names and places.
Does the word cloud work with Hindi or other languages?
Yes. Words are split with your browser's Unicode rules, so Hindi, Urdu and accented text are counted correctly. Whether the letters display well depends on the fonts on your device, so check the preview before downloading.
