Flip Image

This tool lets you flip image files horizontally, vertically or both ways in one click, with a live preview next to the original before you save. The most common reason is a mirrored selfie: front cameras often save the photo the way the screen preview showed it, so text on a shirt or a sign reads backwards. A horizontal flip fixes it. Designers also mirror a photo so the subject faces into the page, and a vertical flip makes a quick water reflection effect. You can also add a 90 or 180 degree turn in the same step, and save as JPG, PNG, WebP or another format. Flip one photo or a whole batch with the same setting and get a ZIP back. How to use

Drop the photo to mirror

Add one image or several, in any common format including HEIC and TIFF, up to 100 MB each. With one file you see the original and a flipped preview side by side.

Pick Horizontal, Vertical or Both

Choose Horizontal for a left-right mirror, Vertical for a top-bottom mirror, or Both. Add a quarter turn under Rotate as well if you need one. The preview updates as soon as you change an option.

Flip and download

Press Flip. The file is saved with the direction in its name, such as photo-flipped-horizontal.jpg, and several files download together as flipped-images.zip.

Why Flip Image

Why selfies look mirrored and how to fix them

When you use the front camera, the screen shows a mirror image because that is what people are used to seeing in a mirror. Raise your right hand and the hand on the right side of the screen moves. Some phones keep that mirrored version when they save the photo, and others flip it back. That is why the same selfie can look different on two phones.

The mirrored version is what you see every day, so it often looks more natural to you. Everyone else sees the unmirrored version. The difference is obvious only when there is text in the frame, such as a shirt slogan, a book cover or a street sign.

To fix one photo, load it, choose Horizontal, check that the text in the preview reads correctly, and press Flip. For a whole album from the same phone, drop all the files at once and download the ZIP. Many phones also have a camera setting for mirrored front photos, if you want to stop it happening in future.

Common questions

Why is text backwards in my selfies, and does flipping fix it?
Front cameras show you a mirror view, like a bathroom mirror, and many phones save the photo that way. A horizontal flip turns it back to how other people see you, so text reads correctly. Choose Horizontal and check the preview before you download.
How do I flip a photo horizontally instead of vertically?
Select Horizontal in the options before pressing Flip. Horizontal swaps left and right, like a mirror on a wall. Vertical swaps top and bottom, like a reflection in a lake.
What does flipping on both axes do?
Both mirrors the image left to right and top to bottom at the same time. The result looks the same as turning the photo 180 degrees. It is handy when a scan or photo came out upside down.
Does flipping an image reduce its quality?
The flip itself only moves pixels, so nothing is resampled and the dimensions stay the same (a 90 degree turn swaps width and height). JPG and WebP files are encoded once more when saved, at the quality you set, while PNG stays pixel-exact.
Can I mirror an image online without installing an app?
Yes. It runs in any current browser on a phone or a computer, using the canvas feature built into the browser. There is no install, no sign-up and no watermark.
Is it safe to flip product photos for a shop listing?
Mostly, but any logo, label or text in the photo will read backwards after the flip. Use it on angles with no visible branding, and look at the preview before saving.
How are flipped files named and delivered in a batch?
Every file gets the same direction and a suffix such as -flipped-horizontal or -flipped-both, so you cannot mix them up with the originals. Download all saves them in flipped-images.zip.
Does flipping an image remove its EXIF data?
By default, yes. The image is redrawn on a canvas and saved as a new file, so camera details, date and GPS location are dropped. Turn on Keep EXIF data to copy them into JPG, PNG or WebP output.
