PNG to JPG Converter

This PNG to JPG converter turns PNG screenshots, graphics and photos into JPG files in your browser, usually at a fraction of the size. It is handy when a screenshot folder is too heavy to email, when a website form only accepts JPG, or when a photo was saved as PNG by mistake. How to use

Add PNG files

Drop .png screenshots or graphics onto the upload area, pick a folder, or paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V, up to 50 MB each. One file shows a card with its size and dimensions; several start bulk mode automatically.

Pick High (90), Medium (75) or Low (50), or set an exact value from 1 to 100. Choose the background colour for transparent areas and, if you like, a max width or height.

Why PNG to JPG Converter

What happens to transparent areas

Every pixel in a PNG can carry an alpha value, which says how see-through it is. A logo on a transparent background has alpha set to zero around the shape and full alpha on the shape itself, with partly transparent pixels along the edges to keep them smooth.

JPG has only red, green and blue, with no alpha. Before encoding, this converter fills the whole canvas with your background colour and then draws the PNG on top. Fully transparent pixels become that colour, and the soft edge pixels are blended with it.

That blending is why the colour matters. A white logo converted with the default white background disappears completely, and a dark logo with soft edges placed later on a black page will show a light halo. Pick the colour of the page or slide where the JPG will be used, and the edges will look right there.

Common questions

What happens to transparency when a PNG becomes a JPG?
JPG cannot store transparency, so the converter paints the transparent areas with the background colour first. White is the default, and you can pick black or any colour with the colour picker. To keep transparency, choose WebP or stay with PNG.
Which JPG quality suits text-heavy screenshots?
Use 90 or more. Sharp text edges are where JPG artefacts show first, and lower settings can leave faint smudges around small fonts. For photos, 80 to 90 usually looks the same as the original and is much smaller.
Will my file always shrink when converting PNG to JPG?
Almost always for photos and full-screen screenshots. Tiny icons or simple flat graphics may barely change, or even grow, because PNG already stores them efficiently. The before and after sizes show the real result.
Can I convert PNG to JPG without losing quality?
Not completely, because JPG is always lossy. At quality 92 or above the difference is very hard to see in photos. Keep the original PNG if you might edit the image again later.
Can I convert hundreds of PNG screenshots to JPG at once?
Yes. Drop them all in and they are processed one by one in your browser. Each row shows its new size, a summary line shows the total saving, and Download all saves one ZIP.
Why do my converted JPGs look blocky around sharp edges?
JPG compresses the image in small blocks, and low quality makes those blocks visible around text and lines. Raise the quality to 90 or more and the blocks become invisible at normal zoom.
Can I resize images while converting PNG to JPG?
You can scale them down. Enter a Max width or Max height in pixels and larger images shrink to fit with the aspect ratio kept. For exact sizes or cm and KB targets, use the Image Resizer.
Are my PNG files private while they convert to JPG?
Yes. Decoding and encoding both run in your browser tab, so screenshots of dashboards or private documents never reach a server.
