Background Remover

This background remover cuts the subject out of a photo, logo or product shot, right in your browser. Photo (AI) runs a segmentation model on your device to separate people, pets and products from busy scenes. Logo / solid color keys out a plain background and keeps every piece of a logo or signature, and you can pick the exact colour to remove. Auto chooses for you. Then place the cut-out on a transparent, coloured or image background, or on a blurred copy of the original, add a soft shadow, crop to the subject and save PNG, WebP or JPG. An erase and restore brush fixes stray edges, and a slider compares before and after. Drop several images for a batch with one ZIP. There is no watermark, and nothing is uploaded.

How to use

Add your images

Drop one or more JPG, PNG, WebP or iPhone HEIC files up to 30 MB each, or paste an image with Ctrl+V. Several files are processed as a batch.

Remove the background

Leave Method on Auto, or pick Photo (AI) or Logo / solid color, then click Remove background. The first AI run downloads the model once.

Finish and download

Choose a background, shadow, edge refine and frame, touch up with the erase and restore brush, then download the file, or a ZIP for the whole batch.

Which method and model to choose

The two methods solve different problems. The solid colour method is exact and fast but only works when the background is one even colour. The AI works on any background but decides for itself what the subject is. The three AI models trade download size and speed for edge quality.

Finishing a product photo for a listing

Marketplaces and shops usually want the product on a plain light background, centred, with a little space around it. After the cut-out, set Background to Colour and pick white or a light grey, set Frame to Square, centred with about 8 percent space, and turn on Drop shadow at low strength so the product does not look pasted on.

Check the edges at full size before you publish. Shiny products and fine details such as cables sometimes need a pass with the Restore brush, and a Shrink edge of 1 px removes the thin line of old background that can show against white.

Common questions

Is this background remover free with no watermark?
Yes. There is no watermark, no sign-up and no paid HD download. With the Original size frame, the output keeps the resolution of your input image.
Can I remove the background from a logo or signature?
Yes, use the Logo / solid color method, or Auto, which usually picks it for plain backgrounds. It removes every pixel close to the background colour and keeps all shapes, including thin lines and small text. Raise Colour tolerance if bits of the background remain, lower it if parts of the logo disappear, or tick Choose the colour to remove when the edge colour is not the background.
Why does the first AI background removal take longer?
The first time you use Photo (AI), your browser downloads the model: about 12 MB for Fast, 40 MB for Balanced and 80 MB for Precise. It is cached afterwards, so later runs only spend time on the image itself.
Can I put a white, coloured or photo background behind the cut-out?
Yes. Choose Colour and click a swatch or pick any colour, choose Image to fill the frame with a picture of your own, or choose Blurred original for a soft version of the scene behind the subject. Changing the background, shadow or frame updates the result without running the removal again.
How do I fix leftover edges after removing a background?
Use Shrink edge to pull the outline in by a pixel or two, which removes coloured halos, and Feather to soften a hard cut. For bigger mistakes, click Erase / restore brush: Erase paints away leftover background, and Restore paints the original subject back in. Undo steps back one brush stroke at a time.
Can I crop the product to a square after removing the background?
Yes. Set Frame to Crop to subject for a tight crop, or Square, centred for marketplace listings, and use Space around subject to control the margin. Add Drop shadow under the subject for a grounded, catalogue look.
Can I remove backgrounds from several images at once?
Yes. Drop several images together or use Add images. Every image is processed with the same method, and the background, edge and frame settings apply to all of them when you click Download all as a ZIP. The brush works on the image you have selected.
Why did the AI remove part of my logo or product?
The AI looks for one main subject, so separate elements such as text next to an icon can be treated as background. Switch Method to Logo / solid color for graphics on a plain background, try the Precise model for photos, or paint the missing part back with the Restore brush.
Which format should I download a cut-out in?
PNG keeps transparency and is lossless, so it suits logos and further editing. WebP also keeps transparency and is much smaller, which suits websites. JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white or with your chosen colour.
Are my photos uploaded to remove the background?
No. Both methods run in your browser. The only network traffic is the one-time download of the AI model files, and your image never leaves your device.
