TIFF to JPG Converter

This TIFF to JPG converter turns .tif and .tiff files into JPG in your browser, so scans, print files and camera exports become small enough to email, share or upload. TIFF is common for scanners, fax software, print shops and photo archives, but most websites and phones do not display it, and the files are often huge. Drop in one TIFF or a whole folder, set the quality, and download JPGs or a ZIP. The tool reads uncompressed, LZW, Deflate and PackBits TIFF, in greyscale, colour, palette and CMYK. Multi-page files give the first page. You can also save PNG, WebP or other formats, and nothing is uploaded.

Bulk supported. Add several files and they are processed in a queue with one ZIP download. The same settings apply to every file, and nothing leaves your device.

How to use

01

Add TIFF files

Drop .tif or .tiff files onto the upload area, or choose a folder of scans. A single file shows its size and pixel dimensions, and several start bulk mode.

02

Choose quality and size

JPG is preselected at High (90). Adjust the quality, and enter a Max width or Max height to shrink large scans. Pick PNG under Output format if you need lossless output.

03

Convert and download

Press Convert to JPG. One file downloads with the same name and a .jpg extension. A batch shows the total size change and downloads as converted-jpg.zip.

Why TIFF to JPG Converter

TIFF compression types and what they mean

TIFF is a container that can hold image data in several ways. The compression type decides the file size and whether a program can read it. Most scanners and editors use one of the types this tool supports.

CompressionWhere you see itSupported here
NoneScanners, older software, print filesYes
LZWPhotoshop, most scanners, archivesYes
Deflate (ZIP)Photoshop, GIMP, scientific imagesYes
PackBitsOlder Mac software, fax and 1-bit scansYes
JPEG inside TIFFSome cameras and document systemsNo, re-save as LZW first

Choosing JPG or PNG for scanned documents

JPG suits photos and colour scans you want to email or upload. PNG suits black and white text scans and line drawings, because it keeps sharp edges without the faint smudges JPG adds around letters.

For forms with a size limit, convert to JPG and use a max width of about 1600 pixels. For long-term archives, keep the original TIFF and share the converted copy.

Common questions

Why can't my browser or phone show a TIFF file?
Most browsers and phone galleries do not support TIFF, apart from Safari on Apple devices. TIFF was built for printing and archiving, not for the web. This tool includes its own TIFF reader, so it works in Chrome, Edge and Firefox too.
Which kinds of TIFF can the TIFF to JPG converter read?
Uncompressed, LZW, Deflate (ZIP) and PackBits compression, with 1, 4, 8 or 16 bits per sample, in black and white, greyscale, palette, RGB, RGBA and CMYK. JPEG-compressed TIFF and planar layouts are not supported, and the tool tells you when a file uses one of those.
What happens with a multi-page TIFF?
Only the first page is converted. Multi-page TIFF is common for faxes and scanned documents. If you need every page, the usual route is to open it in a desktop viewer and export the pages, or save the scan as PDF instead.
How much smaller will my TIFF be as a JPG?
Often many times smaller, because TIFF files are usually uncompressed or lightly compressed while JPG is lossy. The before and after sizes show the real result for your file. Scans of text compress especially well.
Is TIFF to JPG conversion lossless?
No. JPG is lossy, so a little detail is lost. At quality 90 or more the change is hard to see. For archives where every pixel matters, choose PNG under Output format, which is lossless.
What happens to CMYK colours in a print TIFF?
They are converted to RGB with a simple formula, because screens and JPG files use RGB. Colours are close but not colour-managed, so for press work ask your printer to supply an RGB export if exact colour matters.
Can I convert a folder of scanned TIFF files to JPG at once?
Yes. Click Choose folder or drop the files in together. Each file is converted in turn with the same settings, and Download all saves one ZIP.
Are TIFF scans uploaded anywhere during conversion?
No. The TIFF is read and the JPG is written inside your browser tab, so contracts, IDs and medical scans never leave your device.
