How to use
Upload the PDF
Drag in your PDF, up to 200 MB. The settings appear on the left and thumbnails of every page on the right, each showing its number where it will go.
Choose position, format and style
Pick one of nine positions and a margin, then a number format or Custom text. Set the font, size, colour and opacity, and tick Facing pages for a printed book.
Set the range and download
Use Number from page and To page to choose which pages get numbers, and First number to continue from another file. Press Apply & download for a copy with a -numbered suffix.

Page number formats and where they are used
The format you choose tells readers something. Page 1 of N makes a missing page obvious, which is why contracts and forms use it, while plain numbers suit books and reports.
Legal and tender bundles often need every page numbered in one sequence, with the cover included or left out as the rules say. Read the instructions before you set the range, and check the first and last thumbnails before you download.

Choosing a position and margin
Bottom center is the safe default for reports. Bottom right, or the outer corner with Facing pages ticked, suits printed books because readers flick through from the edge. Top positions avoid clashing with footers that are already on the page.
Small puts the number about 8 mm from the edge, Big about 20 mm, and Custom takes any value in millimetres. Printers often cannot print right to the edge, so leave at least 5 mm on anything that will be printed.
