Word to PDF Converter

This Word to PDF converter turns .docx files into PDFs in your browser, with no upload. It reads the document's styles and lays each page out with its headings, fonts, colours, bullet and numbered lists, tables with merged cells and borders, pictures, links, headers, footers and page numbers. You can keep the document's page size and margins or switch to A4, Letter, Legal or A5, portrait or landscape. Convert to PDF saves sharp page images with an invisible text layer, so the file can be searched. Print / Save as PDF uses your browser's print engine for real, selectable text in any language. Several files can be converted or combined. Old .doc files, floating layouts and charts are not supported.

Convert to PDF saves each page as a sharp image with an invisible text layer, so it looks the same everywhere and can be searched. Print / Save as PDF opens your browser's print dialog; pick Save as PDF to get real, selectable text in any language.

What this converter does not keep

  • Text wrapping can differ slightly from Word when a font is not installed on your device, so page breaks may move.
  • Floating pictures and text boxes are placed in line with the text; text wrapping around them is not kept.
  • Charts, SmartArt, equations and embedded objects are shown as their saved preview or left out.
  • Tracked changes are shown as accepted, and comments are not included.
  • Several columns and mixed page sizes within one file are shown as one column and one page size.

Common questions

How do I convert a Word document to PDF without uploading it?
Drop the .docx file here and press Convert to PDF. The document is read and drawn in your browser tab, and the PDF downloads directly. Nothing is sent to a server.
What is the difference between Convert to PDF and Print / Save as PDF?
Convert to PDF draws each page as a high-resolution image and adds an invisible text layer, so the PDF looks the same everywhere and can be searched. Print / Save as PDF sends the same pages to your browser's print dialog, where Save as PDF keeps real, selectable text in any script.
Can I convert an old .doc file to PDF here?
No. The .doc format is a closed binary format that browsers cannot read. Open the file in Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs, save it as .docx, and convert that copy.
Why do page breaks in my PDF differ from Word?
Lines wrap based on the fonts installed on your device. If Word used a font you do not have, such as Calibri on a phone, a similar font is used, lines wrap a little differently and page breaks can move. Headings stay with the paragraph that follows them.
Are headers, footers and page numbers kept in the Word to PDF conversion?
Yes, when Include headers, footers and page numbers is ticked. The default header and footer of the document appear on every page, and PAGE and NUMPAGES fields show the right numbers. Different first-page and odd or even headers are not used.
Can I change the page size when converting Word to PDF?
Yes. Choose A4, US Letter, US Legal or A5, portrait or landscape, and None, Narrow, Normal or Wide margins. Keep As in the document to use the size and margins set in Word.
Can I merge several Word files into one PDF?
Yes. Add the files, put them in order with the arrow buttons, tick Combine all files into one PDF, and press Convert to PDF.
Is the text in the converted PDF searchable?
With Add a searchable text layer ticked, invisible text sits under each word, so search, copy and screen readers work for Latin-script text. For other scripts, use Print / Save as PDF, which keeps real text for every language.
What happens to tracked changes and comments in Word to PDF?
Tracked insertions are shown as accepted, deleted text is left out, and comments are not included. Accept or reject changes in Word first if you need a specific version.
