Common questions
Who must comply with AODA web requirements?
Private and non-profit organizations in Ontario with 50 or more employees, and all public sector organizations, must make their websites and web content conform to WCAG 2.0 Level AA. Smaller organizations still have customer service, feedback, and training obligations.
Is AODA WCAG 2.0 or 2.1?
The IASR legally requires WCAG 2.0 Level AA (with exemptions for live captioning and prerecorded audio description). Meeting WCAG 2.1 AA — what our scanner tests — automatically satisfies the 2.0 requirement.
What are the penalties?
Directors and officers can face fines up to $50,000 per day, and corporations up to $100,000 per day for non-compliance, alongside Ontario's compliance audits and reporting requirements.
